My Blog at Adoppt

If you were wondering where this blog went for a few days, we were moving servers. Now this blog is all transfered to another host! I'm happy I was able to do that semi-quickly, what with all the other things I've got going on. Anyhow, we're back in business, yays!

Can you believe some parts of the country has gotten a foot of snow, on the first day of spring? The midwest is buried with up to 18 inches of snow in some places!

It was cold and rainy here today. I only went out once to get some chinese food, and decided I wasn't going out any more for the day. LOL

I skipped pilates and kickboxing today. We had to work on a deadline and get Farhan's presentation slides ready so we worked until quite late on that last night. Then we didn't get up til late and then had to again devote some time to getting the slides prepared. It was after 5pm when we ate for the first time! Needless to say 2 hours of working out after such an odd day didn't seem like a plan.

Wednesday I won't be able to go to kickboxing either, we are giving another free computer class at the Lavonia library. I am glad we can help people out by teaching them some rudimentary computer skills. The people there last time couldn't even use a mouse! It was elightening, simply becasue I think things like knowing how to turn on a computer and how to use a mouse are common sense, but they are not. Last time we taught them about starting the computer up, using notepad, opening files, saving files, making a new folder, opening programs, clicking, double clicking, opening the browser, navigating to Yahoo!, etc. And we signed the people with no email addresses up for a yahoo email account. Then we showed them how to compose and send emails, how to add people to their address book, and things like that. They enjoyed it, I guess. This week I'm not sure what we'll cover. We'll improvise it. We're doing this because we like the library and are members of the Friends of the Library.

Anyhow, I'm not going to be updating Faeriebell's Blog for the time being, and will be focusing on getting some linkage to Relevant Perspective and Faeriebell's Favorites. I will start to link authoritatively. ^_^

I've been so busy lately. Really busy with getting Adoppt finished and semi-launched. Now we're moving servers and consolidating things from two servers to one. It's a tough job, but it will be for the best right now.

I haven't blogged at all this week. I am used to posting at least 2 blog entries on Faeriebell's Blog a day, and at least one on other blogs I maintain. But I have had to put that on hold for a while, at least until we get some things set up.

We went to Clemson today. It was fun. It was spiritual to find a thriving mosque in the upstate of South Carolina. It was packed! We were very happy we could go to Jumma prayers. Afterwards we went to Kabob Korner for their buffet platter, and it was delish.

I want to blog more, but I am bummed because Faeriebell's Blog is certainly penalized by Google at this point. I think it's because I have not linked properly to other websites, only to Technorati. Which Google I guess has taken offense to.

I will most likely be switching over to Relevant Perspective and blogging there primarily once I start blogging full time again. I have much to say about what's going on these days, just no time.

Anyhow, now you know why I've been somewhat MIA this past week or so. I miss my blogging, my thoughts are itching to get out.

Finally updated my MySpace profile to a St. Patrick's Day theme. Will have to update it again soon!

If you want a MySpace profile designed, I can do it for a donation of around $15. Just let me know. ^_^

Off to Kabob Korner again! yum We are so lucky to have a South Asian food place so close, and that is so affordable. We went to Toccoa yesterday to get our computer fans replaced and found out that the woman at the Toccoa Computer Store loves Indian food, and has actually traveled all over India and Asia. We told her about Kabob Korner, she was excited to hear there is a place to eat Karahi Gosht and Kabobs in Anderson.

OnlineCityGuide:

Kabab Korner

Guaranteed fresh food, mildly spiced. Cooked everyday. Authentic Indian food.

Took 2 hours of exercise last night, one hour of Pilates and one of Kickboxing. I feel great today, I'm only a little bit sore. My calves hurt. My arms are sore, but we did less lower body stuff, and my abs aren't dying.

It's House MD night!!!

Funny blog post detailing the symptoms one might exhibit if they are BlogoPhobic.

A new medical term that had been firstly used by Sir. Darwish Naji - e7m e7m - in the 21st century , referring to fear of blogs & blogging , in which a group of people experience feeling of disfavor , discomfort and dislike toward the whole idea of blogging , lacking the essential components of fear and generalized anxitey disorders ; so the term - BlogoPhobia - here is considered misnomer .

I have to say, many I know are borderline blogophobic.. we must assess their symptoms and initiate treatment!!

I gave Garfield a bath! I'd never bathed her before and I had no idea how she'd react. She didn't like it, but she was a good girl. I'm proud of her.

She's been outside a lot and under the dilapidated house that's quite nasty, and Farhan was complaining about her sleeping on the bed all dirty. Well.. today was sunny and warm, so I dunked her in the bath.

I filled the tub up with luke-warm water just so her feet were covered and used a cup to pour the water over her. I got some kitty shampoo when we went to Pet-Smart last and it smells good. I lathered her up after getting her good and soaked and made sure to rinse her real well. All the time she was looking for a way out of the tub, but I kept a good hold on her and she wasn't able to jump out.

She is a very mellow cat, she doesn't scratch or bite unless it's play time or she's giving "love bites", so I didn't have any worries about her freaking out with me. She yowled a little bit, looked at me pitifully, and tried a few escape methods, but she was otherwise a good cat.

After we were done, I scooped her up in a towel and dried her off a little bit. She didn't want to have too much of that, and jumped away from me. She then spent almost an hour cleaning/drying herself off. She looks better, her coat looks clean and she's regaining her fluff.

You know how most cats look markedly skinnier when they're wet? Well sure Garf looked thinner, but not much. She's a hefty girl. ^^

So that's my Sunday Cat Bath experience. Whew, we'll do that once a month or so.

It's been a beautiful day, we went to Anderson to eat wings at Carson's. Had an ok time but there was a whole group of teachers there, and they were SO LOUD you could barely have a conversation over them. Gosh, I mean I guess you get a group of 10 elementary school teachers together for drinks on a Friday after work and they go BALLISTIC.
"This little girl ran up to me and told me this little boy was running down the hall so I went over to him and said 'Now no running in the halls'."

"If I wasn't seeing results on the scale, I mean, I wouldn't do it!"

"Oh that Derek on American Idol has a bald head and OMG he's hot!"

They were yacking so much I got a headache, thanks a lot, women!

But other than that the wings were awesome and we ate a bunch of them. They have fried pickles at Carson's. Ever had those? Gosh Southerners will fry anything. Actually the restaurant is Texas style, I wonder if that's a thing in Texas? At any rate they're good. ^_^

God on the way over I almost got in an accident. Some IDIOT was merging onto the expressway, and I had given them plenty of room to merge into my lane. They were edged out enough so I couldn't pass them, and then they SLOWED DOWN. I braked and flashed my lights, the universal, go ahead signal, and they slowed down more. I honked. I still couldn't pass, they were out halfway in my lane. I could see tractor trailers coming in my rearview, and we had slowed to like 50 MPH, them halfway in my lane, me trying to let them merge into traffic. So to avoid getting creamed by the big rigs I pull over onto the shoulder, honking like a madwoman (although my cars horn is about as wimpy as they come). Gosh, I won't ever be nice again and try and let someone in that's for damn sure. What a freakin idiot. They seemed to be terrible at merging. They got off at the same exit we did and again they merged terribly into traffic. They're gonna get killed that way. People who drive like that make me freaking crazy. If someone is obviously letting you merge you don't go halfway into the lane and then freaking slow down... GRRR.

Ooh I got a new cell phone, it's sleek. It's not a camera phone or anything, it just makes calls. I don't need all that fancy schmancy stuff. I hadn't gotten a new phone since I was in college, but I really didn't need one. Mine still worked, it was fine. But the service was pretty expensive, and we figured I could get added onto my mom's plan for cheaper than having my own. And we were right. For $10 a month Mom added me onto her family share plan. The only bad thing is that I loose my 2000+ rollover minutes from Cingular, but I've decided not to care. My old plan was $48.00 a month. Not worth it, especially because now I hardly ever use my phone. I mainly called my mom on it when we were in Dahlonega, and so now I need anything I just call on the home phone or go over to mom and dad's house!!

It's going to take me forever to remember my new number. I'm horrible at remembering phone numbers.

Well I took a kickboxing class tonight, the first time I've really worked out in quite a while. I took Pilates last night but it wasn't a strenuous workout at all. This was!! I am suffering from a heat induced headache right now. I get headaches a lot when I work out and I'm out of shape. But this headache was not aided by the fact we went and ate Mexican right after the workout. Heh, not very good for whatever diet I am pretending to be on. I have been trying to drink a lot of water the past few days, which makes me feel good.

Anyhow, back to the kickboxing. The course is structured differently than kickboxing courses I have taken in the past. They have punching bags and gloves and you really kick and punch the bags. It's awesome. Classes I have taken in the past were just shadowboxing. The instructor is really neat, he's the Pilates instructor's husband. The class is not a million kicks or punches with tons of repetitions, it's more freestyle. We have 45 second sets where we do combinations of punches and kicks at our own pace. No one is doing the same thing at the same time. So if you need to take it easy for a second or two it's not blaringly obvious that you're wimping out. At the end of the class we did some ab work and some stretches. LOL we did these back circles where you lay on your back and put your knees up in the air and move about in a circle without touching your hands or your feet to the floor. I felt like a turtle who was stuck on its back!

My head started hinting at hurting during the abs, and I took an Aleve as soon as we got out to the car. But it's still hanging on, guess I'm stuck with it tonight.

I am glad we went ahead and did the kickboxing. It was a fun workout and I KNOW I'll be sore tomorrow. I was already slightly sore from Pilates, not much but enough to know I worked out. But this will make my muscles sore I know.

So yay, I worked out! I have so much work to do to really get in shape, but I feel like I've made the first few steps.
